The experiment to try and get Lacey Evans over as a sympathetic babyface has failed. WWE had Evans tell her life's story in two months' worth of vignettes that explained the trials and tribulations she went through during her childhood, growing up, and military service, including eventually making it to WWE. It told the story of a hard-fought external struggle and internal doubt before finally being able to overcome her obstacles and achieve her dreams. Unfortunately, with one bad choice by creative and a mistake by a ring announcer, it was all for nothing.
As of Friday's SmackDown, Lacey Evans is now officially a heel.
Fans weren't sold on Evans' return but when the live crowd was asked to stand and "show her the proper respect" -- a line meant to invoke cheers not boos, the fans turned. In every successive match, the boos got louder until WWE seemingly got the hint at Money in the Bank this past Saturday. Every time Lacey Evans tried to climb the ladder and the crowd sent out a very vocal negative response to her possibly winning, WWE must have decided it was time to give the fans what they wanted.

On Friday's SmackDown, Evans came out to the ring to team with Aliyah but wasn't thrilled with the initial response. She went back behind the curtain and made her entrance again. Still not satisfied, she made a third entrance and it was then that the fans started to really boo. Evans got the ring, grabbed the mic, and let the WWE Universe now she was disgusted by such a lack of respect.
She said, "You guys are disgusting." She was appalled by the fact she poured her heart out. She called herself an American hero and said she put her life on the line for a bunch of oveweight fans who wouldn't understand. She then said until she gets the amount of respect she deserves, "Every one of you can go to hell."
The Right Move By WWE
Sometimes an idea doesn't work. The fans didn't want a sympathetic hero that they could get behind and felt it was more a sob story than an uplifting one. WWE has decided that if the fans are going to boo Evans no matter what, she might as well give them a reason.
