The WWE might be planning something big for the opening of WrestleMania 37 and for the first show in front of fans in over a year. According to a report by popular Twitter account @WrestleVotes, WWE might forego the kickoff show on night one to go with a grande entrance spectacle.
They write:
Hearing something interesting- WWE may not feature a match on the WrestleMania kickoff show for night 1, as the 1st entrance back in front of fans is being looked at as a HUGE deal. Not decided at all, but definitely a conversation happening within creative.
In other words, instead of having the standard match on the pre-show, WWE has some sort of ceremonial production planned for fans to enjoy, really celebrating the fact that a live audience is back.
One has to wonder what this will be. Is it a generic production that includes the WWE as a whole? Or, is this something specific to a certain wrestler? Drew McIntyre has said openly that it is his desire to make sure he's the first WWE Superstar to come out and be introduced in front of a live crowd again. If this is what WWE has in mind, expect a huge entrance for him to make his way to the ring, possibly playing on his Scottish Warrior gimmick, the sword and a much larger version of the entrances he gets on weekly programming.
That also means, he's likely to be the first match of the pay-per-view and could hint him taking the title from Lashley to open the weekend.
This Is Much Better Than A Match
If WWE is going with a huge opening spectacle, this sounds like a much smarter idea than just tossing a match on the kickoff show that no one will care about. Give the fans in attendance a massive reason to feel emotional about WrestleMania and a reminder for us watching on pay-per-view that WrestleMania is "back in business."
