It's unlikely to happen now, but Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that there was at least consideration for a New Day reunion at this year's WrestleMania. The group hasn't been seen much together since Big E went down with a neck injury and while he hasn't been cleared to wrestle, he is mobile and looking good. Unfortunately, an injury to Kofi Kingston recently has changed the potential of a possible reunion.
Meltzer wrote, "I don't think if anything will come of this or if Kingston's injury changes this, but we had heard of an idea for E to be at WrestleMania and the three of them would come out together if that would be the right thing to do and if E could come back soon." The return wasn't necessarily being done to promote an in-ring return, but just to provide fans with a feel-good moment that would be memorable. For Big E, that might have been nice as well. But, Kingston's foot injury has created question marks about whether WrestleMania 39 provides the right environment and if the timing is right
WWE is being cautious in how they use Big E. What they don't want is to either ruin his return in a moment that doesn't make an emotional connection and they also don't want to send the wrong idea that he might be nearing an in-ring return if he isn't. Big E has been public about waiting on the results of tests that may or may not clear him to return to action, and noted that he's fine with either outcome.
New Day Will Reunite One Day
Whether it's at this year's WrestleMania or down the road, fans will get to see all three members of New Day in the ring together. They may never wrestle as a trio again, but there will come a time when all three are healthy enough to reunite in a moment that will go down in WWE history.
