The Untold Truth Of HGTV's Bargain Mansions

When we think of HGTV stars, many of them seem to balance their work lives, on-camera demands, and the responsibilities of parenthood all at the same time. Think of Joanna Gaines, who has five kids with husband Chip Gaines, or Tarek El Moussa, who is navigating co-parenting with his ex-wife, Christina Hall. Given their nature, HGTV shows often grant viewers an inside look into the personal lives of the stars in question, and Tamara Day is no different. "Bargain Mansions," not only features her dad working alongside her but has given her the opportunity to show her own kids what a successful, professional parent looks like.

In a sit down with People, Day dished about her experience, sharing that as wonderful as it's been to thrive on screen, it hasn't exactly been a bed of roses. "I don't believe balance is possible," Day explained. "There are days that I'm an awesome mom. There are days that I'm an awesome TV host. There are days that I'm an awesome renovator and designer. But there are also days that I suck at all of those things."

Despite acknowledging her own struggles, Day did share that she's hopeful her kids are aware of just how hard she works, and are inspired to do the same. "I'm teaching my daughter what it looks like to be a strong, working woman," the HGTV star explained. "For my boys and my daughter, this has taught them that there is no dream too big."
