Sharon Lynch

Professional Background

Sharon Lynch, M.D., is a professor in the Department of Neurology at the University of Kansas Medical Center.

Dr. Lynch has been involved in multiple sclerosis research, patient care and teaching for over 25 years. She came to the University of Kansas Medical Center in 1991 to start a new MS clinic, which has expanded over the years to treat hundreds of patients each month.

Dr. Lynch was instrumental in establishing the Mid-America MS Achievement Center (MSAC) in 1997, a program aimed at optimizing the daily lives of people with more progressive MS through ongoing rehabilitation and wellness programs. The MSAC has found a permanent home at KU Medical Center. She has also worked with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society on the local and national levels, including serving as the chair of the clinical advisory committee and as a member of the Board of Directors of the local chapter. She was inducted into the National MS Society Hall of Fame in 2005.

Dr. Lynch earned her medical degree from the University of Utah in 1984 and she completed her residency and a fellowship in neurology immunogenetics at the University of Utah Medical Center.
