Message from the Associate Program Director
Thank you so much for you interest in the University of Kansas Psychiatry Residency Program, located in Kansas City, Kansas.
I have been in Kansas City for many years now, starting in 2010, when I began medical school at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. I began my psychiatry residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center in 2014 and completed the program in 2018. After graduation, I spent a year in private practice before coming back to KU Medical Center to serve as medical director for our inpatient psychiatric hospital located at the Strawberry Hill Campus in downtown Kansas City, Kansas. Shortly after joining as faculty, I also began to serve as associate program director for our psychiatry residency program.
It was not an easy decision to leave private practice to come back to academics however there were two important factors which contributed to my decision: the psychiatry residency program and the core philosophies of the KU Medical Center psychiatry department. I felt I received excellent training at our program, and I wanted to continue this tradition of teaching and training for the next generation. KU Medical Center has a long-standing history of providing psychiatric care for the Kansas City community with the guiding principal of always placing the patient first. This philosophy is vital, and I am honored to continue to provide the same level of care for my patients today.
Overall, residents are what make this hospital great. As a former resident, I have had the unique experience of seeing this program continuously grow and change based on resident feedback to ensure the best for our residents. Not only does the program teach the residents about the practical applications of psychiatry, but also the subtle art of the neurosciences. I could not have asked for a better experience in residency and I am beyond excited to continue to work with residents today.
Thank you, again, for considering our program and I hope we hear from you soon!
Chrissy Glenn, D.O.
