Professional Background

Dr. M. Brad Nelson is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Kansas School of Medicine / University of Kansas Health System.

After completing his Master of Public Health and Doctor of Medicine degrees at the University of Kansas School of Medicine, Dr. Nelson completed internship and residency in Pediatrics at the University of Utah School of Medicine / Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT. During his residency, he also completed a certificate program in Pediatric Bioethics through the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine / Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, MO.

Dr. Nelson subsequently pursued a fellowship in Pediatric Rheumatology at Baylor College of Medicine / Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, TX.

In addition to providing clinical care, Dr. Nelson has interests in education of medical students, residents, and fellows, research in the areas of social determinants and outcomes in pediatric chronic disease, and integration of mental healthcare into the care of children with chronic diseases.
