Although Duff typically rocks a long blonde hairstyle, she's switched in up several times. In December 2019, she shocked fans when she did a big chop and had a bob length hairstyle. She later did a tutorial about holiday makeup and addressed the new look. "I'm just warning you, this might take a little longer than usual because I just chopped my hair off," she said. "After a big change, like a new hair color or cut, it always takes a minute to figure out your face again."
A month later, she started wearing hair extensions. "Whoa @riawna how'd you make my hair grow like this over night??? Cool trick cool trick," she joked in a caption on Instagram.
In addition to experimenting with the length of her hair, she's also rocked a few bold hair colors. "I always go on Instagram, and this time, I just typed in 'light pink hair.' I saw a bunch of stuff and thought, let's do this. When I'm not working, dyeing my hair is a fun thing for me to do. I had greenish-blue last year, and had a lot of fun with it. And on Instagram, a lot of people are doing fun stuff with their hair, so I got inspired from that," she told InStyle in 2016.
